Packing for a move is a big challenge, and knowing how to do so efficiently will go a long way toward reducing your stress and allowing for a hassle-free move at both ends. The following tips are offered from a former Realtor, to help you pack well for moving.

Pare down: The first thing to consider is that this packing time comes with an opportunity. Like many people, you may have been accumulating 'stuff' for quite some time, and moving is the perfect time to do some evaluating. Because you already have to go through all your things anyway, you have a rare chance to look at each item objectively and make decisions as to whether they are useful to you and if you really want them. For all the items that are no longer really useful or loved by you, there are people who will consider them treasures. If you donate your used goods to a second-hand organization such as the Salvation Army, you will be giving other people the chance to use and enjoy them. The added bonus will be less to pack and unpack for you, and more room at your new home.
